Diamond Z Ranch History Joe Donohue creator of the 15 minute horse lesson, left New York City over 30 years ago to fulfill a dream. His dream - a black horse with a crescent shape marking on his neck. And when a mustang stallion named Myriah came into his life, it was only the beginning of his education. Over 30 years later, lessons learned from training his own horses, observing mustang herds in the wild, and as a farrier, Joe Donohue has more than horse sense. He has perfected the 15 minute horse lesson. By watching, physically feeling and responding in a proactive manner, he is able to connect with horses. He has rehabilitated horses and placed into good homes all over the country. Currently he focuses on training in harness and providing horses for the motion picture industry. Sabrina Zackery
A big city girl, with a small town dream. The only thing she ever wanted was a horse. After years of lessons in California, she left to fulfill that dream. Meeting Joe Donohue was the turning point in her life. She learned ‘survival riding’, from Joe and explored the open spaces of northern Nevada on his stallion Myriah. The trust she developed with Myriah and using Joe’s training techniques, lead her to the show ring. With the basics of showmanship, gymkhana and pleasure riding under her belt, she made the jump to carriage driving. Her successful carriage career driving a single pony, Joe’s, W.W. Joker’s Lady, prompted her to aspire for more. Today Sabrina trains for pairs and four-in-hand driving, utilizing the 15 minute horse lesson, developed by Joe Donohue.
Sabrina penned the script The Horse of His Dreams & producer and director "The 15 Minute Horse Lesson" | Testimonials "Equine physical and mental conditioning is key. The 'one-hour riding lesson/training session' so traditionally ingrained in the instructional world is not, generally, the best thing for the horse. (who is really doing the work!)
I share and support his "less is more" philosophy of the fifteen-minute lesson for the horse."
